Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins, also known as Antonietta Gonzales-Collins in the United States and Mexico, is an American-Mexican sportscaster. She is currently a sportscaster for ESPN who is also an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. Her first assignment with ESPN in the year 2016. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been so since the age of nine. Her ability in this area helped her to get her first position at Univision, Miami. She could work alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. The next position she was offered was a Sports Reporter at the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009 she moved into Rio Grande Valley, Texas to become an anchor for the newscast of The Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories about the trafficking of drugs and immigration on both sides the Texas-Mexico Border, she served as an anchor for KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm. She was an anchor for the news channel with a news anchor in English for 9 pm, after which she became a news anchor until 10pm before returning on KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. In addition, she was used occasionally as a weather and sport anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasstation, which is where she has more responsibility. She reported on the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseason, as well as the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor herself. She was appointed as the sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. In the same capacity for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collin's parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. There is also an older sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico to the US and settled in Miami. Her parents divorced soon after in 1995. Her mother got married to a naval architect known as Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. When on vacation Antonietta was staying at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed the job of his dreams. Antonietta was a senior in high school, yet she knew exactly what career path she was looking for. So while assessing if Mount Union would be a good fit for her Antonietta visited the campus. As it turned out she was a fan of the university and the university offered the major she was looking for. After high school, she graduated and began studying media at the University. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked for a number of years, was an acquaintance. Mark's passion for journalism and confidence in herself encouraged her. She in turn attempted to live up to his standards and not disappoint him.
