Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actor, is well-known for her work in film and television in the latter half of the 1980s. Bassett has been awarded a variety of accolades such as two Golden Globe Awards as well as sixteen NAACP Image Award. Since the late 80s she has been working in film and TV. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards including the 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She was born and raised in New York New York. The mother of Bassett had divorced from her father at approximately five. Bassett and her younger sister moved to St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was at the age of high school when she watched James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck in the play Of Mice and Men and knew that her dream of becoming an actor had been born. She attended Yale University New Haven Connecticut earning a bachelor's diploma (1980) on African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance met her at Yale, and in 1997 they got married. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree in African American studies in the year 1980.
